Meet Suzanne and Paul who are following their dreamsCreative Folk, Entrepreneurs | March 15, 2018
We are on the quest to interview business owners over the age of 60. This week we chat with Suzanne Skillen and her partner Paul in Sydney Australia about their Isagenix business which has grown to a stage where they travel the world and follow their dreams.
What inspired you and your partner to start your business at 60 years old?
We had lost everything, including our home and our savings with a previous business and had hit rock bottom. The only way was up!
Can you tell us a little about your business and what you do?
We started a network marketing business with solutions focused on weight loss, better sleep , youthful ageing and wealth creation. We started with the two of us, seven years ago and now have over 84,000 people in nine countries around the world and in our team
What are some of the most important lessons you have learnt in life?
There are so many lessons we have learnt on this journey
To believe in yourself .
To never give up.
To never let anyone steal your dreams.
To not take advise from broke and unhappy people.
Surround yourself with people who support and inspire you.
You are never to old to start again.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
What motivates you to keep working after 60?
We love what we do, helping others to get healthy and wealthy. We both love presenting and telling our story to inspire others to never give up. We are now building a legacy for our family so that our work can carry through generations.
What do you like most about having your own business?
Two main things having financial and time freedom. It takes hard work and commitment to get to this stage however we both love being our own boss.
Each day we get to do whatever we like, whenever we like with whoever we like!
What advice would you give to the younger generation?
Persevere. Find good mentors that have been successful not people who don’t walk their talk.
Don’t give up at the first obstacle. Be 100 percent committed and focused.
Dream big, believe then act towards your dream every day.
If you could jump into a time machine what era would you visit and why?
I would visit the future, 100 years ahead to see the legacy we have created for our children, grand children and great grandchildren.
Anything else you would like to add?
Age is just a number. Attitude is important and with age comes wisdom and the knowledge that comparison , gossip, envy will never fulfil you. Celebrate every success and the only race is the one against yourself.
